Ubud, Bali
I took a short break from writing the blog because of two things mainly. Firstly when we got to Bali, mum and Sadhna joined us and we had a couple of late night chats before bed and secondly my phone got lost ... don't ask!
Anyway we arrived in Bali in high spirits as 1) we had just been on one of the best trips of our lives in the Komodo National Park, and 2) we were going to see mum and Sadhna, and we were all looking forward to that.
Our first stop in Bali was Ubud. When we got to our accommodation, Adil's Villa, there had been a misunderstanding as we were led to believe we were booked on the same location but we were not. Anyway with a little frowning and firm convincing, the issue was swiftly resolved and we moved in to our Villa.
Ubud is a town located inland with lots of culture and temple visits to offer. And sure enough we went to quite a few of them from the Saraswati temple in the town centre of Ubud to more distant one such as Tirta Empul. They were all slight different from one another and we only just skimmed over them, the best we could do without a knowledgeable guide.
The second night in Ubud Roxana and I took advantage of the arrival of the two new babysitters and went to have a nice dinner at Copper Restaurant and Bar. We were celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary and it we thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere at that restaurant.

In and around Ubud were also nice rice paddies and we explored a few on them including the beautiful Tegalalang Terraces. On all occasions we had a nice lunch in nice warungs (little restaurants) surrounded by green rice paddies.

Ubud also meant some shopping with its main market offering a lot of opportunities to try our skill at bargaining for a better price. Even Mara had a go at it!
Then as our time in Ubud was drawing to an end we had a last dinner at our local favourite Odette, a nice restaurant only a stones throw from our place serving very nice food and delicious desserts.

The next day we set out to our next stop: Amed.
